Independent online radio for San Francisco — a 24/7 launchpad for the Bay Area's up-and-coming artists. Vinyl to modern, jazz to house, all of it local. Real DJs, real community, no algorithm.
Radio SF is a simple idea: take an empty plot of land, drop in a repurposed shipping container, and broadcast the best music the city has to offer — live, 24 hours a day, to anyone in the world.
No corporate owners. No playlists picked by a machine. Just resident DJs, special guests, and a coffee kiosk out front that keeps the whole thing running and independent.
We're building a physical home base for San Francisco's musicians, selectors, and night owls — a place with a skyline view and the fog rolling in, where the city's sound has a home.
Most of all, it's a launchpad for local talent. Radio SF exists to put the Bay Area's up-and-coming artists on air — surf rock, jazz, bossa nova, soul, funk, hip-hop, Latin, punk, and everything in between — and into rooms and feeds they couldn't reach alone.
And we're keeping the music going around the clock. SF nights get cold, so we're putting heaters around the container to keep showgoers warm through the foggiest 3 AM. The whole point is a true 24/7 experiment — the vibes don't stop when the temperature drops.
The vibe shifts with the light, and every block is a launchpad for Bay Area artists you haven't heard yet. Press play to hear how a single day on the lot moves — and who's on the mic while it does.
Eyes open slow. Happy, optimistic lo-fi melts into anthemic, sky-opening EDM as the fog burns off the bay. Coffee in hand, the whole city exhaling at once.
On the lot: Ocean Beach Reverb — surf & psych from a local guitar slinger — and weekend Lot Sessions open decks.
Sun's up and so is the BPM. Cumbia and Latin funk give way to chopped breakbeats and driving electronic — relentless energy to power the lot through the brightest, busiest stretch of the day.
On the lot: Crate Theory (vinyl-only soul & jazz) and Bossa & Brass, live from the booth.
Lights down, mirror ball up. Psychedelic nu-disco, house and techno with a fat bassline — movement-inducing grooves that don't let your feet stop until last call, and a slot for new bands to play live on air.
On the lot: New Bands Live (indie & punk, on air) and The Long Fog drifting into experimental electronic past midnight.
Sample programming — the real schedule drops at launch. We run round the clock, with heaters out front to keep you warm through the cold hours. Want a slot? Pitch your show.
Every block above is a launchpad for the Bay Area's next wave — the bands, producers, and selectors you haven't heard yet but will. Every genre, every neighborhood, on air and amplified.
Reverb-soaked surf guitar that sounds like a foggy morning at Ocean Beach. The Foghorns are exactly who Radio SF was built for — a local band with a huge sound and not enough people listening yet. We're fixing that.
Hear them at launch →Illustrative lineup — real artists go on air at launch. Make music in the Bay? Get featured.
Here's the part we're still figuring out, and we'd love your take. Instead of a label, a gatekeeper, or an algorithm deciding who gets played — Radio SF is curated by the community. You recommend the artists you love, the city votes, and the most-hyped acts earn airtime and a featured slot.
Heard a band at a Mission dive bar? Got a producer friend who never gets heard? Submit them in seconds — a name, a genre, a link to their sound. Self-nominations welcome.
→Every nominated artist gets a profile and a hype meter. Listeners upvote the acts they want on air. Share a profile, rally your fans, climb the board — it's a weekly leaderboard, not a popularity contest frozen in time.
→Each week the most-hyped artists earn a real slot in the schedule — and the #1 act becomes our Featured Artist. Get discovered by the whole city, not buried by a recommendation engine.
The residents are the soul of the station — local selectors and players whose contributions keep the radio fresh, weird, and unmistakably Bay Area. We're assembling the first SF class now, across every genre.

Yes — truly round the clock. SF nights get cold and foggy, so we're putting heaters around the container to keep showgoers comfortable at every hour. Keeping people warm is how we keep the music and the vibes going 24/7 for the full run of the experiment.
We're booking founding residents and guest DJs now. Sign up, tell us about your sound, and we'll review it — every submission gets heard.
We stay independent by funding the station through our on-site coffee and drinks kiosk. No corporate owners, no algorithm — just the community.
